Welcome to The Gander Bread Box and Café

The Bread Box & Cafe opened its doors December 8, 2009 with just bread… after all it was supposed to be a bread shop. Steve only starting making bread a few months before we opened our doors. Well that first couple of weeks we soon realized that we had to have baked goods as well.

So over the next year we started baking…. None of us are bakers!!

Really this started with an idea and grew from there…

Well we started out with bread and now we have a full range of baked goods, a full hot lunch menu which includes our touton burgers, along with soups, subs. sandwiches.

We have a full ALL DAY breakfast menu with our famous touton breakfast sandwich.

We serve free trade Kicking Horse coffee. Teas from The Newfoundland Tea Company, and all of this comes with a smile and our best customer service.

When you walk through our doors we will always greet you. We hope when you come through our doors you find what you are looking for but leave with a smile knowing that The Bread Box & Cafe is more than just bread, it’s an experience.

Over this past 8 years we have worked hard to give this community something different, something that when you are not having a great day, drop in and have a chat!!

As busy as we are at times we always try to make people feel like The Bread Box & Cafe is theirs too!

A few years ago we were faced with a challenge when Steve had a motorcycle accident and he was unable to make bread. We could not believe the response from our customers, our FAMILY… we had people coming in just to give us their phone numbers and say “if there is anything I can do “. It was overwhelming! Over the time Steve continued to get better but we had volunteers in slicing bread, going to the store, going to the bank… it was amazing the help and support we had gotten and it was because of that support we made it through.

The Bread Box & Cafe has an amazing team. We are only as good as the people around us. Oh boy we must be good cause these guys are awesome…

 Our Daughter Grace has grown with this business and has been working since she was 12. She is the face of The Gander Bread Box & Cafe when we are not there… and she is wonderful!!

She too will great you with a smile!!

As a family along with some amazing people we have built this business because We truly love what we do!!

Our youngest daughter Emma is also the face of The Bread Box & Cafe when we are not there Emma, she has an amazing way about her she is always having a chat with our customers.
